Sustainability: Linen

Why we love linen

We’ve just launched our contemporary new collection online, and we thought we’d give you a look into what happened at a special behind the scenes look into the design inspiration, and what when on during the shoot week.

Just as easy to look after as cotton and a fabrication that gets better after each wash- one of the many reasons we adore linen is that uses minimal resources to create and is, therefore, a more eco-friendly, sustainable option than many others.

Linen at Yarra Trail

What is linen?

Linen is a natural fabric that comes from the flax plant. Flax is an annual plant, which means it only grows once a season and it can be harvested after 100 days. For the growth of linen, not much water is needed, making it a very sustainable fabrication.

What makes linen so good?

As linen comes from a plant it is a natural material, that means, it has the ability to biodegrade. Besides that, you don’t need to worry about microplastics during washing, as it won’t loose any, because of its organic nature. Linen is very strong and can be worn for years as it is much stronger than cotton for example. As mentioned before, it comes from the flax plant; a plant that grows very fast, without needing much water, fertiliser, or other chemical materials.
